Pilates Based
Conditioning
Pilates (pi-LAH-teez)
exercise, performed since the 1920’s is undergoing a surge in
popularity. It is a comprehensive, whole body system of exercises
designed to balance the body’s muscles and create a flexible, strong
able body.
There are over
500 controlled, precise movements designed to strengthen and stretch
without adding bulk. Each exercise requires concentration, always
working with the body and mind. Exercises focus on the core muscles
including those in the abdominal cavity and back which support good
posture, and bring ease and power to walking, lifting, dancing and
sport activities. It will also improve breathing and circulation to
the internal organs. After one workout you will feel taller and more
elongated with a feeling of balance throughout your whole body.
Consistent workouts will bring greater range of motion and the ability
to maintain correct posture with ease.

All our
trainers take continuing education yearly, either from attending
workshops or conferences. Right now we are working with
clients who have:
Parkinson's
disease
Scoliosis
Bulging/ Herniated Discs
Spinal Stenosis
Hip/Knee Replacement Fibromyalgia
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Osteoporosis
We take great
care in matching your needs with the trainer that is best suited to
work with you. We have also worked with Physical Therapists
and Orthopedic Doctors to set up programs on toning and stretching
addressing your specific needs. Each program is individually
tailored and monitored.
Pilates
For Osteoporosis
All our
trainers have taken continuing education in this area. There are
bone building exercises that are recommended by medical
professionals as being weight bearing and appropriate for those with
this silent disease. Pilates can be an excellent way to increase
your bone density. As much as 20% of bone can be built in one year
of following a Pilates program that we recommend. Call the studio
and talk personally with one of our trainers. Each program is
individually tailored.
Pre-Natal
Pilates
There are specific exercises and modifications
that can ease some of the physical aspects of pregnancy while
increasing your chances of staying healthy. We can work with
your doctor on any risks you might have. We have a special “C”
supporter, especially designed for the pregnant woman. This
supporter has a variety of functions and can be used on multiple
equipment.
